In honor of Veterans Day, the Sons of the American Legion (SAL) Commander Ruben Alaniz led a heartfelt effort to pay tribute to our nation’s heroes. Together with members of the high school JROTC, SAL, American Legion, and the Rivera Seahawks Band, volunteers gathered to place 200 American flags on the headstones of veterans — a powerful display of gratitude and remembrance.
The morning was filled with quiet reflection, teamwork, and community pride as generations came together to ensure that every veteran’s service was honored. Each flag stood tall as a symbol of freedom, sacrifice, and enduring respect for those who answered the call to serve.
This act of remembrance reminds us that Veterans Day is more than just a date on the calendar — it’s a time to come together as a community, to reflect on the cost of our freedoms, and to ensure our heroes are never forgotten.
A special thank you goes out to Commander Ruben Alaniz, the JROTC cadets, the Rivera Seahawks Band members, and all the SAL and American Legion volunteers who made this beautiful tribute possible.
As the flags wave proudly over the resting places of our heroes, we are reminded that freedom truly is not free — and that honoring our veterans keeps their legacy alive for generations to come.
